Hrithik Roshan thanks Shah Rukh for item song!

Mumbai, March 15 : Shah Rukh Khan went out of his way to accommodate Rakesh Roshan and his banner by shooting an item song for their production "Krazzzy 4". And Hrithik Roshan cannot thank him enough.

"I'm doing the song for my own home production. But Shah Rukh has gone out of his way to accommodate the project because he respects my dad. His gesture has touched all of us. It's very kind of him. He doesn't need to dance."

Hrithik can't stop raving about the item song. "It's the best dance track I've ever performed. My uncle Rajesh Roshan has outdone himself. Vishal Dadlani, who has sung the number, has also been extremely gracious. He didn't accept the cheque that my dad gave after the song. He did it for my dad and uncle. As a family, we Roshans are overwhelmed by the respect that has been shown by everyone associated with the item song."

Tell him it's because of the respect his father's banner commands; and Hrithik corrects me. "No, I think it's more to do with the kind of person my father is. If he was some one else, Shah Rukh, Vishal and everyone else wouldn't have gone out of their way to accommodate us, no matter how successful we may be. I think my dad has earned the respect he gets. He doesn't command it."

Hrithik further says: "Shah Rukh's version of the song will be part of the main movie, while mine will be used at the end of the title; and also on MTV, Channel V and other promotional campaigns for television."

With the triumphant "Jodhaa Akbar" behind him, Hrithik is now looking forward to starting his next film with Anurag Basu. "That's one film I'm really looking forward to. I'm a big fan of Anurag's cinema. I think he's a very sensitive director. He is going to do something different with me. I can't say much about the subject, but it will be a different experience for me."

The industry was abuzz about Sonam Kapoor starring as Hrithik's leading lady in Anurag's film. "Both Dad and I think Sonam is wonderful. But she was not considered for Anurag's film. The character needs someone from abroad. I'll have an international co-star in Anurag's film."

Hrithik and Aishwarya looked pretty international in "Dhoom 2" and "Jodhaa Akbar". "I can't dispute that. It's true. Ash and I share a good rapport. It's always fun to work with a co-star who is not selfish. We gave so much of ourselves to 'Jodhaa Akbar'. Aishwarya has been one of my most helpful co-stars. I really like working with her. She is an incredible actor and an even better co-star. Since all three of us - Abhishek, Aishwarya and I - are friends, we've great fun even when we are not shooting."

Hrithik craves for the perfect chemistry with his co-star. "I don't think it's possible for me to give my best if my co-star isn't doing the same. I try to surround myself with like-minded people. I think I've found the right people operating in my frequency to work it, be it Ashutosh Gowariker, Sanjay Gadhvi, Aditya Chopra or my dad. I'm fortunate, I guess."

'Deadly' Bachchan!

Is that the Boogeyman, we asked almost instantaneously when we got a dekko of Amitabh Bachchan's *avatar *in Ravi Chopra's next production, Bhoothnath. Long nails, ruffled hair, termite nibbled jacket, unkempt appearance, the actor par excellence seems to have traveled to hell and back for his look in the film.

Bachchan Sr. however is quick to give due credit to director Vivek Sharma. "The director had a vision, I simply did what was asked of me," he said. Look designer Muneesh Sappel shares, "We had several options, I'm happy with our choice and the final outcome." And while producer Chopra describes Bhooth Bachchan's look as 'rocking', make-up man Deepak Sawant informs that Amitabh used to take one and a half hours to get into the ghostly garb, and only thirty minutes to get out of it.

Apparently, the first day of shoot was quite eventful. "There were a group of people waiting outside Amit*ji*'s van for his autograph, and when he emerged in his get-up, they were stunned and actually took a step back,"
narrates director Sharma, "He then tried to scare Juhi and everyone else on the sets, too. It was fun. There were screams and lots of laughter. Amit*ji*was extremely co-operative. Not once did he complain."

The *ghostly *experience was anything but ghastly for Bachchan. "It was 'deadly', literally and figuratively speaking. I enjoyed myself," he tells us. The movie, however, isn't one from the horror genre. "The kids are going to love it as much as the parents," explains Ravi Chopra. Bachchan, in the course of the motion picture, metamorphoses into a good 'soul'. So lets toast to this ghost who is actually a *dost*!

Aamir gifts himself a shave.

Today, the 14th of March is Aamir Khan’s birthday, and making it special is the gift that Aamir will be giving himself. Folks we are referring to him going bald. If you remember some time back Aamir had said that for his forth coming film Ghajini he will be getting into the character he plays and hence will shave his head. Well today is the D day when Aamir will be using the scissors to snip off his hair.

Apart from this it is also rumoured that the film Taare Zameen Par by far the best film that proved Aamir Khan’s prowess in directing films will be remade in Tamil and will be under Aamir’s own production banner. However he will not be directing the film, instead this part has fallen to the award winning actor-director Cheran.

If that’s not all, the second change will be who’s playing Aamir’s role in the film. The grapevine tells us that Aamir is keen on having either one of the Tollywood superstars Vikram or Surya play his role. While the part that Darsheel plays hasn’t yet been decided or finalized yet.

Let’s hope that the Tamil version is as good as the real one, as most remakes falling flat these days. However we tried to get in- touch with Aamir at his office and residence but he was not available for comments, while his co-workers say that they will have to ask the star before commenting on it.

Clinton apologizes to black voters

Hillary Rodham Clinton did something Wednesday night that she almost never does. She apologized. And once she started, she didn't seem able to stop.
The New York senator, who is in a tight race with Illinois Sen. Barack Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination, struck several sorry notes at an evening forum sponsored by the National Newspaper Publishers Association, a group of more than 200 black community newspapers across the country.

Her biggest apology came in response to a question about comments by her husband, Bill Clinton, after the South Carolina primary, which Obama won handily. Bill Clinton said Jesse Jackson also won South Carolina when he ran for president in 1984 and 1988, a comment many viewed as belittling Obama's success.

"I want to put that in context. You know I am sorry if anyone was offended. It was certainly not meant in any way to be offensive," Hillary Clinton said. "We can be proud of both Jesse Jackson and Senator Obama."

"Anyone who has followed my husband's public life or my public life know very well where we have stood and what we have stood for and who we have stood with," she said, acknowledging that whoever wins the nomination will have to heal the wounds of a bruising, historic contest.

"Once one of us has the nomination there will be a great effort to unify the Democratic party and we will do so, because, remember I have a lot of supporters who have voted for me in very large numbers and I would expect them to support Senator Obama if he were the nominee," she said.

The Clintons long have enjoyed overwhelming support from black voters, but that has been eclipsed during the primaries and caucuses by enthusiasm and support for Obama, who has pulled huge margins among black voters. Arguments over the role of race and gender have flared up repeatedly throughout the contest between Obama, who would be the nation's first black president, and Clinton, who would be its first female one.

Earlier in the day, Hillary Clinton supporter and fundraiser Geraldine Ferraro gave up her honorary position with Clinton's campaign after she said in an interview last week that Obama would not have made it this far if he were white. Obama said Ferraro's remarks were "ridiculous" and "wrong-headed."

Of Ferraro's comment, Hillary Clinton told her audience: "I certainly do repudiate it and I regret deeply that it was said. Obviously she doesn't speak for the campaign, she doesn't speak for any of my positions, and she has resigned from being a member of my very large finance committee."

As first lady and senator, Clinton rarely cedes an inch to her critics. On the issue of her vote to authorize the Iraq war, for instance, she steadfastly has refused to apologize, coming close by saying she regrets it, despite calls from many anti-war voters in the party to make a more explicit mea culpa.

Her third conciliatory statement of the evening was more in keeping with that fighting stance.

Asked about the government's efforts in the Gulf States after Hurricane Katrina, Hillary Clinton turned an apology into a criticism of President Bush, who happened to be speaking at a Republican event in another room at the same hotel.

"I've said it publicly, and I say it privately: I apologize, and I am embarrassed that our government so mistreated our fellow citizens ... It was a national disgrace," she said.

Priyanka Chopra pledges to donate her organs

Priyanka Chorpa was present at the inaugural function of the 16th Annual Conference of the Indian National Association for Study of Liver (INASL). The event organized by the Army Medical Corp saw Priyanka turn up as she herself is the daughter of army personnel.

However, Priyanka not only graced the event but even pledged to donate her organs for the service of humanity. Apparently, the actress realized the importance of organ donation when her father was ill recently. Former cricketer and MP Navjot Singh Sidhu also pledged to donate his organs.

Must say here is one beauty who not only has a beautiful image on screen but has even touched many hearts off screen by this noble gesture

Himesh Reshammiya - The new 'Singh Is Kinng'?

While Akshay Kumar has been ruling the roost as a reigning Singh Is Kinng, guess who has turned into a Punjabi munda with a vengeance? It is none other than 'sadda' Himesh Reshammiya! Even though he belongs to Gujarati origin, Himesh has developed a sudden fascination for anything and everything which is Punjabi. Reason? His character in his upcoming film M2KNDM2K (Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekkh Mudh Mudh Ke) is that of a modern boy who hails from Delhi.

So much has the actor/composer/singer immersed himself into the character that he has started conversing with everyone around him in Punjabi. Chuckles a source attached to the crew of the film which is currently filming Karzzzz in Cape Town, "Himesh bhai, or shall I now say Himesh paaji, is going an extra mile to get prepared for the character he enacts in M2KNDM2K. Since learning Punjabi doesn't happen in a day or a week, he has already started working on getting the accent right. So much so that he speaks to everyone on the sets in Punjabi only."

When contacted Himesh was initially reluctant to talk about his preparation plans for M2KNDM2K. However, he did confess that he was required to pick up the Delhi lingo. He said, "See, you are required to work hard on any role that you play, whether in terms of body language, mannerisms or the way you speak. To add authenticity to the character, it is very important to get the accent right. We all know that Delhites have a very peculiar accent and one can't afford to allow a slip here or there."

Himesh goes on to add, "M2KNDM2K is a modern day love triangle and it travels from India (Delhi and Punjab) to Paris. I don't want to miss out on the detailed nuances that a Delhi boy would have in his character and hence have started practicing right away."

Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekkh Mudh Mudh Ke introduces a new leading lady Jenifer Kotwal opposite Himesh. The film also features Niharika Singh for whom this will be her second film with Himesh. M2KNDM2K will be produced by Aditya Singh (of Jagannath Films, earlier partner in Contiloe films) and directed by debutant duo of Seema and Sudhir.

Akshay to romance Katrina amidst pyramids!

Mumbai, March 12 : Akshay Kumar is hell bent on covering the seven wonders of the world. Currently, he is preparing to shoot action scenes on the Great Wall of China and next month he plans a stint in Egypt amid the pyramids.

This time, it's for a song with Katrina Kaif in "Singh Is King".

"We'll be shooting the introductory song of the lead pair. This will be where Akshay first meets Katrina. The film is complete after this," Vipul Shah, who teamed up with Aneez Bazmi for the movie, told IANS.

The last time a romantic song was shot amid the blow-dried pyramids of Egypt, it featured Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in Karan Johar's "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham".

"Not surprising that Akshay wants the song to be canned in Egypt. He wants to better Shah Rukh Khan's success score with Kajol. Most trade pundits see Akshay and Katrina as the next most-successful couple after Shah Rukh-Kajol," the director said.

After "Namastey London" and "Welcome", Akshay really feels Katrina is his lucky mascot.

"But we aren't shooting in all the normal places in Egypt. We want to capture parts of the country other than the predictable pyramids," Bazmi said.

Deepika-Ranbir to be directed by Imtiaz Ali

Now that their relationship is out in the open, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone seem to have overnight become the most talked-about couple in filmdom. Sadly, just after cementing their relationship during the long outdoor spell of Yash Raj Films' Bachna Ae Haseenon in Australia, Deepika had to leave for a long shooting schedule of Nikhil Advani's Chandni Chowk To China.

Kashmir Singh denies statement on being spy

HOSHIARPUR (PUNJAB): Kashmir Singh, who returned to India recently after spending 35 years in Pakistan jails, on Saturday went back on his statement on Friday that he was a spy.

Singh said that the media had distorted his statement made at a press conference in Chandigarh on Friday on his working for the government in seventies.

At the Meet-the-Press programme in Chandigarh on Friday, he had admitted to having worked as a spy and also blamed government agencies for not having looked after his family after his arrest in Pakistan.

But on Saturday he said his statement was distorted. Singh declined to give any details of his working for the government.

"I did not give the statement of my being a spy," he said.

Answering a question he declined that he was retracting on Friday's statement under pressure. "There was no pressure on me to withdraw the statement," he added.

His childhood friend Gurmit Chand Bhardwaj, a former Joint Director of News in AIR, said in Chandigarh that Singh maintains that he worked for the government.

Bhardwaj also said that Pakistan Human Rights Minister Ansar Burney, who had played a key role in the release of Singh, also rang up and talked to Singh today seeking clarifications on his spy statement.

Singh was stated to have worked for the army and for the Punjab Police as a constable.

Natalie Portman Supports Hillary Clinton

We’re not sure if Natalie Portman is still dating Nathan Bogle. We haven’t heard from that alleged male model in quite some time. Sad.

But we know she’s throwing her support behind Hillary Clinton in the race for president, although she likes the other contenders too.

Natalie tops Elle Magazine’s April 2008 “Intelligent Women” issue, and in her interview, here’s some of what she shared about politics:

“A lot of the stuff people say about [Hillary Clinton], I hear it and my stomach falls because it’s so sexist. You ask people why they don’t like her and it’s because her husband cheated on her! That was obviously not her choice.”

THG NOTE: We respect everyone’s opinion, but really, Natalie? Didn’t you go to Harvard? We would love to know the name of one person who actually used that reasoning.
“She’s so much more polished and experienced than anyone else. Last night, a friend, a social worker in L.A. who works with underprivileged kids, was saying how these girls who have never been interested in politics before are so excited a woman might be president. I mean, look how many women are in government … Hillary Clinton is one of, what, [a handful of] female senators?”

THG NOTE: 16, actually, Natalie. There are also 71 U.S. Congresswomen, including the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, plus eight state governors and the U.S. Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice. Which is great. We’re just saying.

“I also like Barack Obama. I even like John McCain. I disagree with his war stance — which is a really big deal — but I think he’s a very moral person. I met him and Hillary on the same day, actually, when I went to Washington with Finca [a nonprofit that gives loans to businesswomen in developing countries]. Hillary was by far the smartest person I met that day. Just totally focused, and knew more about the issues than anyone else, and was so able to go from one thing to the other.”

Who is Deepika's ultimate man?

After making a remarkable debut in Om Shanti Om model turned actress Deepika Padukone became the next big thing of Bollywood.

Right from her debut movie, she has been hitting headlines continuously for some or other reasons. Be it her debut release Om Shanti Om opposite King khan, or the number of men in her life. The tall and slender beauty who once upon a time dated model Nihar Pandya in her modeling days, then the newest lad of kapoor clan Ranbir kapoor before the movie release, then with cricketers Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh after the smashing hit at box-offce is now again seen with Ranbir.

According to the latest grapevine it seems that Ranbir Kapoor is back with his ex-girlfriend Deepika. According to sources they have been repeatedly spotted together in public. Recently the duo was seen together at Filmfare event and coincidentally they also acted in one of the cola commercials.

Ash ready to work with SRK

Obituaries were in place for the Aishwarya-Shah Rukh pair, immediately after the unfortunate happenings on the sets of Chalte Chalte (2003), involving her and 'the then' boyfriend Salman Khan. But that is a closed chapter and a thing of the past. At present Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is basking in the glory of the superb performance of her first post marriage release, Jodhaa Akbar. Even her detractors have grudgingly given her the title- The first fully active actress after marriage!

There is no denying the fact that the two films, Josh (2000) and Mohabbatein (2000), in which Aishwarya acted with Shah Rukh Khan, the two vibed superbly. In fact, when Josh released, the uniform view was that Aishwarya shared a better chemistry with SRK (who played her brother in the film) than with her love interest, Chandrachur Singh! Not only that, their item number, 'Ishq Kameena' from Shakti -The Power (2002) is a very popular track, till this day.

So will we see the King Khan-Aishwarya pair again or has the Chalte Chalte controversy killed the prospects? Well, when the Bachchan Bahu was asked the same, she was very clear when she said that she is ready to work with Shah Rukh Khan, provided that there is a proposal worthy of her consideration.

The Big B finds a new formidable co-star!

In Vivek Sharma's Bhootnath, The Big B plays a ghost…a dost ghost, so to speak. And the child actor he plays the friendly ghost to is Aman Siddiqui. The bonding between the two has to be seen to be believed.

Says the Big B, "Aman is an absolute darling. I've done several ads with him. And of course we earlier did a film together. In Eklavya, he had played junior Saif Ali Khan." This isn't the first time when the Big B has co-starred with a scene-stealing child actor. In fact during the last few years he has made a habit of working with phenomenally talented kids…. Ayesha Kapoor in Black, Rucha Vaidya in Ek Ajnabee and Sweeni Khare in Cheeni Kum were the three child actors who shared a significant screen space with the Big B.

The difference here is, Big B plays a ghost. Ask him how does one play a ghost and the Big B laughs, "I've never seen one. But I had played one earlier in Honey Irani's Armaan. You go by what the director tell you. Which isn't saying much, because I doubt the director has seen one too. Unless he's drawing inspiration from present company, meaning me," the Big B ends with a chuckle.

Ambanis watch Ghai's Black and White

Subhash Ghai's directorial venture Black and White is all set to hit screens this Friday (March 7). The story which deals with terrorism and its repercussions will see Ghai venture into a completely different territory.

While most of the audiences is waiting with bated breath to have a glimpse of the film, there were a lucky few who had the privilege of watching the film before its release. We are talking about none other than Reliance Industries head, Mukesh Ambani, and his wife Nita.

Apparently, Ghai who is quite close to the senior Ambani, had a special screening of Black and White at Sea Wind- the Ambani home at Cuffe Parade last night (Monday). Even Kumarangam Birla had a special screening of the film organized by Ghai at the Birla residence yesterday itself.

For those who came in late the Ambanis were even among the first to see Jodhaa Akbar when director Ashutosh Gowarikar had arranged a special preview for them. They simply loved that film.

Well, with top filmmakers arranging exclusive screenings of their films for Mukesh and Nita Ambani, seems like their valuable opinion does mean a lot for our B-town folk.

Bollywood film stars pitch in for charity football match

Pune, Mar 5 : Bollywood glitterati played with gusto in a charity football event

raise funds for cancer patients on Tuesday here.

Several actors including Salman Khan, his brother Sohail Khan, comedian and Member of Parliament Govinda and newcomer Ranbir Kapoor donned dark blue football jerseys to showcase their football skills against a Pune XI in a tournament organised by the 'Abhijit Kadam Memorial Foundation' to raise funds for cancer patients.

Cheers rent the air as the actors manoeuvered the ball across the field in an exciting match.

"I am not concerned with who and how many goals are scored. My focus is on the ultimate purpose of the game for a social cause and by the grace of God, it will benefit the needy," said Govinda.

By the first half, the match tally was 3-3.

"Six goals have been scored in the first half, three from their side and three from our side and the goals were beautiful," said Salman Khan.

The actors won the match with the scoreline reading 9-5.

Action-hero Suniel Shetty, who was present at the event but did not play because of a bad knee said: "This is for charity and a great cause, so, it's a great reason to be here."

Cancer is a global challenge, leading to casualties all around the world.

Common forms of cancer afflicting people are lung cancer, throat cancer and blood cancer, while breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women.

Some of the major reasons for cancer are the intake of tobacco, pan masala, alcohol along with environment pollution and a sedentary life style etc.

An estimated 700,000 new cancer cases are reported in India annually and over 350,000 people die of it every year.

Hillary going strong, seals Texas after Ohio

Hillary Clinton swept critical showdowns with Barack Obama in Ohio and Texas on Tuesday to keep her Democratic presidential bid alive, and John McCain clinched the Republican nomination and looked ahead to the November election.

The victories for Clinton, a New York senator, snapped Obama's winning streak at 12 and defied widespread predictions that defeats in Ohio and Texas would force her out of the White House race.

The hard-fought Democratic presidential duel moves on to contests in Wyoming and Mississippi and the next major showdown in Pennsylvania on April 22, with Clinton still trailing Obama in the pledged delegates who will choose the nominee at the August convention.

"We're going on, we're going strong, and we're going all the way," Clinton, 60, told roaring supporters in Columbus, Ohio. "We're just getting started."

McCain's four big victories in Vermont, Ohio, Texas and Rhode Island drove his last major rival, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, out of the race and gave McCain more than the 1,191 delegates needed to win the nomination.

President George W. Bush will endorse the Arizona senator at the White House on Wednesday, capping McCain's comeback from the political scrap heap last year when his campaign was down in the polls and counted out.

"I am very pleased to note that tonight, my friends, we have won enough delegates to claim with confidence, humility and a sense of great responsibility that I will be the Republican nominee for president of the United States," McCain, 71, told supporters in Dallas.

"The contest begins tonight," the former Navy fighter pilot and prisoner of war in Vietnam said, looking ahead to a match-up with either Obama or Clinton in November.

Exit polls showed Clinton won big among voters who decided in the last few days, when she questioned Obama's readiness to be commander in chief and the sincerity of his pledges to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement, which is blamed in Ohio for manufacturing job losses.

Under Democratic rules allowing the losers in each state to win a proportional amount of delegates, Clinton must win many of the remaining contests by big margins to close the delegate gap behind Obama.

watch this guy get punished by andrew symonds a...

Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds drops a So...

You only live once: cricket streaker

A streaker left seeing stars when Andrew Symonds flattened him during the second tri-series final at the Gabba is unrepentant despite being fined over his antics.

Robert Ogilvie insists he has no regrets about his on-field romp, insisting it was "great" when burly all-rounder Symonds smashed him to the turf of Brisbane's Gabba ground with a shoulder charge.

After receiving summary justice from Symonds on the field, Mr Ogilvie faced official punishment at the Brisbane Magistrates Court.

The 26-year-old was handed a $1,500 fine but escaped having a conviction recorded against him after pleading guilty to wilful exposure.

The court heard Mr Ogilvie had been drinking with his brother and friends when he decided to strip and run onto the field.

He dodged security guards and police but made the mistake of running too close to Symonds, who used his preseason training with the Brisbane Broncos rugby league team to fell the intruder with a powerful shoulder charge.

Prosecutors said Mr Ogilvie told police after the incident that "it was just something he had to do", although his defence lawyer insisted he was sorry for his actions.

He showed no sign of regret outside the court when asked how it felt to be on the wrong end of a Symonds' tackle.

"It was great actually... just like playing football," he said.

He said he would never streak again but was not sorry about his naked run, saying: "You only live once, don't you?"

Mr Ogilvie said he was not considering legal action against Symonds.

Cricket Australia (CA) official Michael Brown said Symonds had his organisation's full support and would not face any action.

"He was dealing with self-preservation, which we support 100 per cent," Mr Brown said.

"Andrew was in the zone and was severely threatened.

"No person has the right to impinge upon another person's space, particularly a sportsman plying his trade."

The eye-watering incident has been posted more than 30 times on video sharing website YouTube, attracting more than 80,000 hits by mid this afternoon.

Beating Australia 'pinnacle of cricket'

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) says beating Australia on home soil is the pinnacle of world cricket.

India wrapped up the one-day tri-series with a nine-run win in last night's second final in Brisbane.

BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah says Indian fans are savouring the win over the world's best team.

"It is every cricketers dream that they want to beat Australia," Mr Shah said.

"In any sport any team who beats the best team is the best feeling"

Mr Shah says the BCCI has no major concerns about crowd behaviour or any of the issues that flared during the team's tour of Australia.

Disputes between Australian and Indian players, particularly Harbhajan Singh, overshadowed much of the on-field action this summer.

Mr Shah says the interaction between the crowd and Harbhajan was mostly in good spirit.

"They picked on him but anyhow it's part of the game and you take it as sporting," Mr Shah said.

"We have no ill feeling and I think Harbhajan will be the most popular person in Australia."

Sachin inspires India to historic victory

Clark broke the opening partnership when he had Uthappa caught by James Hopes at mid-off, but Tendulkar continued his imperious form, dispatching the Australian bowlers to all parts of the large ground with ease.

Tendulkar was finally out with the score on 204 after trying to bunt a ball away for a quick single and being caught by Ponting, 84 runs after the Aussie skipper had spilled the earlier chance.

The Indians kept giving their wickets away to innocuous bowling.

India's hopes of breaking 300 fell away as Gautam Gambhir (15), Rohit Sharma (2) and Irfan Pathan (12) all fell cheaply.

But in the end 258 was just enough to get them home despite Hopes's heroics.

Result India win by nine runs to clinch finals series 2-0
Man of the match Praveen Kumar (IND)
Man of the series Nathan Bracken (AUS)

India wrapped up the triangular one-day international cricket competition when they beat Australia by nine runs to take an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the best-of-three finals series here Tuesday.

The Indians made 258-9 in their 50 overs then restricted the home side to 249 to claim a thrilling win and take the final ever triangular series to be played in Australia.

Veteran Sachin Tendulkar led the Indian batting with a fine 91 before newcomer Praveen Kumar tore through the Australian top order, claiming Adam Gilchrist, Ricky Ponting and Michael Clarke with just 32 runs on the board.

Kumar came back at the death to bowl Brett Lee and finish the match with 4-46 from 10 overs to signal his arrival on the international scene.

Australian allrounder James Hopes led a rearguard action, scoring a career-high 63, but he kept losing batting partners and was last man out when caught at mid-off trying to blast 13 runs off the final over.

The Indians made a magnificent start in the field when Gilchrist, in what turned out to be his last innings for Australia, edged a ball from the impressive Kumar to wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni to be out for just two.

Kumar struck again in his next over when Ponting (1) tried to pull a shorter ball and spooned an easy catch to Yuvraj Singh at mid-on.

Clarke (17) then followed after he lazily tried to pull a straight delivery only to see it crash into the top of off-stump to leave Australia staggering at 32-3.

But when an injury-hampered Tendulkar was dismissed for 91, the scoring rate slowed and Australia's bowlers began to gain control.

Tendulkar was well supported by Yuvraj Singh (38), M.S. Dhoni (36) and Robin Uthappa (30), but the Indians were at least 50 runs short of where they should have been.

They had a let off when Ponting dropped Tendulkar on seven, the Australian skipper spilling a difficult diving chance at point.

The little master made the Australians pay for the miss as he began to settle and increase the scoring rate.

He brought up his 50 from 70 balls when he dabbed a short ball from Stuart Clark to third man, delighting the large number of Indian supporters in the crowd.

Andrew Symonds (42) and Matthew Hayden (55) recovered brilliantly and got the Australians back on track until Hayden was run out with the score on 121.

Symonds was making a big impact with his bat, but made an even bigger one with his shoulder when he tackled a streaker who made the mistake of running too close to the burly Queenslander.

The match appeared as good as over when Harbhajan Singh trapped Symonds in front to leave Australia 123-5.

Mike Hussey and Hopes set out on a rescue mission and put on 76 before Hussey feathered a Shanthakumaran Sreesanth delivery to Dhoni with Australia on 199.

Although Hopes got Australia close, the task was always just out of reach and the young Indian side celebrated wildly as their older opponents ran out of deliveries.

After Dhoni won the toss and chose to bat, India were 205-3 at one stage and heading for a score of more than 300.

Mani’s film sans Ranbir

Well well there is one more story doing the rounds. We had informed you a few days back that ace director from South India, Mani Rathnam, is getting his next project ready. The film will be a love story and will feature the real life love jodi Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
Now the rumor mills are churning with one more story, which says Ranbir will also feature in this project. But insiders who are close to the project have no clue as to where this one started from. It is true that the story demands one more male character but that will have to be someone older than the junior Bachchan.
So now it is clear that it will surely not be Ranbir who will do the role. So who will it be? Maybe another favorite of the director, Madhavan who has done a handful of films with Mani, or will it be Aravind Swamy one more favorite actor of the director who had starred in ‘Roja’ and ‘Bombay’ and both were super-duper hits.
With speculations going around and the director still on the look out for this other character all we can do is just wait till more news emerges on this front.

Kareena Kapoor-The workaholic

What do we say? Kareena has emerged as the most wanted actress of Bollywood, and with that comes a myriad of other responsibilities. One thing is to literally live out of her vanity bag for rest of the year. Kareena has committed for around four films this year.
It is reported that Kareena will be shooting for different films at different locales across the globe. Bebo who is right now shooting from India for the comedy ‘Golmaal Returns’ with Tushar Kapoor will soon leave for Melbourne come mid-March for filming with Salmaan Khan for ‘Main Aur Mrs. Khanna’. This film will be produced by Sohail Khan.
Once the shooting of this film is done she will next be seen on location for a two-month shoot for ‘Kambaqth Ishq’. Bebo will share screen space with Akshay Kumar in this flick that is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. Towards the end of this year Kareena will be off to London where she along with her boy friend Saif will shoot for a Karan Johar film that is yet-to-be-titled.
With such a busy schedule and flying from one country to another Bebo will hardly have anytime for her own. But the thrill lies in getting to see so many places in such a short span!

Is your child's memory faulty?

As many as 10 percent of school age children may suffer from poor working memory, yet the problem remains rarely identified."Some psychologists consider working memory to be the new IQ because we find that working memory is the single most important predictor of learning,"
Defects in working memory may explain why one child cannot read his history book and another gets lost in her algebra, new research suggests. It is important to identify the problem early so memory training can be implemented. The child should not be considered dull witted or lazy.Children can be taught ways to function better in school. There are programs being devised to help these children.

Kangana as Juliet

Hollywood is looking at India for actors these days. With the entertainment industry in India forging ahead our actors have gained recognition the world over. The latest to join this list is Kangana Ranaut.
Well this fair lady has been offered to play one of the most loved romantic characters in English, Juliet. US-based film agency Ambassador Pictures has approached her with this international project. If all goes well we can soon see Kangana play Juliet in a present day version of Romeo & Juliet. We are sure who will play the part of Romeo though.
If reports coming in are to be believed then Kangana has bagged an offer from international movie makers and the film will be called ‘Between the Night and Moon’. Though the actress is not believed to have signed the dotted line when she does the film will be shot in Kashmir and Florida. It is reported that this film will be directed by the Italian director Gilda Pianelli.
Kangana is now busy shooting for Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Fashion’ which deals with the dark side of the fashion world.
Great going girlie!

Arrogance the undoing of the Australian cricket team

Need to punish 'bad boy' undoes the Green and GoldIt was there to see at the SCG on Sunday night. Australia lost, the all conquering almighty team of the past two decades came crashing down and it was all due to one man. The turbinator, the man publicly named as an obnoxious weed - Harbhajan Singh brought the downfall of Australia by his mere presence. How is this you ask? The Australians got themselves into trouble with some early poor shot selection and bad luck (Ricky Ponting underedged a pull shot that went cannoning into leg stump - two overs later Matthew Hayden did exactly the same thing but the ball missed the stumps and rolled away for a boundary).
At 3 for 24 Australia was in dire trouble when Andrew Symonds came to wicket and joined Matthew Hayden in a furious counter attack that saw them reach a 100 by the 18th over. They took the game by the scruff of the neck and shook it violently back to Australia's favour with the kind of intelligent power cricket that has been the hallmark of this team. Commentators were likening it to the world series finals of 2006 when a game down and 3 for 10 in the second game Symonds then joined by Ricky Ponting bludgeoned the Sri Lankan making 358. Hayden and Symonds had put on a hundred run partnership when the Indians then turned to Harbhajan - he hasn't been bowling particularly well of late and he didn't bowl particularly well here - BUT the two batsman at the centre of the childish schoolyard spat with the indian off spinner both decided he had to go. The thing is after they had dominated the game and got the Indians on the back foot Symonds and Hayden could quite easily have milked the bowling, taken five singles an over and just accumulated another 80 more runs then set up for a guns blazing finale with both of them past 100. BUT Harbhajan had to be taught a lesson and the two tried to arrogantly hit him out of the attack. It was an attack of stupidity that really did cost the Australians the match as the Indians settled down to chase a moderate total of 237 when they should have been chasing a much more daunting total of more than 320!

Now, Sanjay-Manyata Hindu marriage could be invalid

There seems to be no end in sight for the troubles of Sanjay Dutt and his companion Manyata who got “married” a few weeks back.

Just days after the couple withdrew their joint declaration of registered marriage, there is more trouble brewing for them.

Now, we learn that the wedding of Sanjay Dutt and ‘wife’ Manyata as per Hindu rites may be invalid if she has not converted to Hinduism before the marriage on February 11.

Manyata is in fact a Muslim and her real name is Dilnawaz Sheikh, reports say.

"According to the Hindu Marriage Act, if the couple are Hindus at the time of marriage, only then is the marriage valid under the Act," noted lawyer Mrunalini Deshmukh said.

"Even though Sanjay and Manyata have filed a joint declaration with South Goa's registration authorities seeking withdrawal of their marriage declaration, they will be husband and wife if their marriage as per the Hindu Marriage Act is valid," Deskhmukh said.

But if Manyata has not converted before the marriage rites, then either party can challenge the marriage at the time of annulment, as it is an invalid marriage.

The joint declaration filed by the couple before South Goa's Salcette Sub registrar's office states that they do not desire to solemnise their marriage under the Portuguese Civil Code, 1867.

Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai in UP

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan and his daughter-in-law and film actress Aishwarya Rai on Friday attended a ritual in connection with the death of the father of Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh in Azamgarh.

The "Brahmanbhojan" ceremony on the 13th day after the death was performed with full religious rites at Singh's native village Tarwan in the district where SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and other party leaders were also present.

Noted Bhojpuri singer Manoj Tewari recited ‘bhajans’ on the occasion.

People from nearby areas thronged the venue to have a glimpse of the film stars, especially Aishwarya Rai, and the police had a tough time in controlling the surging crowds.

SP Lok Sabha member and film actress Jaya Prada, SP Rajya Sabha member Jaya Bachchan were also present in the ceremony.

Abhishek Bachchan loves gorging on chocolates

His chubbiness notwithstanding, Abhishek Bachchan can’t resist a bite of chocolate after every meal.

Yes, the junior Bachchan has a big weakness for chocolates, the very sight of which often sends him drooling.

And by a sweet co-incidence Abhishek found that his co-star in Dilli 6 , Atul Kulkarni , has a no-less love for chocolates. In fact, so hooked is Atul on chocolates that he carries them with himself whenever he goes on long shooting schedules.

While shooting for ‘Dilli 6’ in Jaipur, when Abhi caught Atul savoring chocolates, the young Bachchan couldn’t resist joining him, and Atul willingly offered some from his stock to Abhi.

Now, eating chocolates after every meal on the film’s sets has become something of a ritual for the two actors.

However, the only thing that has got Abhishek worried is his increasing waistline.

The smile is back on Simran's face!

The agonising suspense is over at last for Tamil cinema’s reigning queen of yesteryears, Simran .

The hottest Kollywood tiding of recent times is that the heroine with an hour-glass figure is launching her much-delayed comeback through Gautham Menon’s ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’.
Simran has been snapped up for the third heroine’s role, according to the grapevine. The other two heroines are Sameera Reddy and Divya .

Earlier, there were rumours that Simran may land a role in superstar Rajnikant ’s forthcoming film, ‘Kuselan’. But that was not to be.

Now that she has managed to find her comeback vehicle, fans hope that Simran, who is looking slimmer and more beautiful, will regain her former glory.

Surya will play the male lead in the movie, which is being shot around Chennai.
